Friday Foursome: I’m Back!

September 2, 2016

Chirp – chirp – have you heard crickets over here? I apologize my blog has been so quiet! Summertime is always about finding balance, isn’t it?  This summer, spending time with my family and working on some exciting projects for clients and our own house (full reveals to come this fall!) took priority over the blog.  But I’m back! And September just always feels like a fresh start and a great time to make little changes around the house that we’ve been putting off all summer, right? So without further ado, here is my Friday Foursome, where I share a few of the things that made me swoon over the past week.

Fall decor doesn’t need to be about adding gold, orange and brown into your home.  You can make things feel cozier  with thicker fabrics in richer, deeper colors. These kilim pillows would be a fun addition of texture and color.

I might need to try this DIY Marbled Paper Art project.

In case you missed this pic on Instagram, the new LondonHouse Chicago had me swooning last weekend over all the design details. We stayed there to celebrate our 18 (gasp!) year anniversary.

The views from LH22 – the rooftop bar were spectacular too!

Friday Foursome

June 17, 2016

Welcome to this week’s Friday Foursome, where I share a few of the things that made me swoon over the past week. Ok – two weeks.  So it’s officially summer and although I am going to try to keep up the Friday Foursomes – I know you’ll understand if they are a tad more sporadic. #schoolsoutforthesummer #wheredoesthedaygo #summertimenotscreentime

Thank you!

Here we go!

A gorgeous home with a beachy-summertime vibe. (And how cool is that chandelier?)

And speaking of a beachhouse – wouldn’t this light would be perfect flanking bookshelves or lining a stairwell?

With kids home for the summer and all the daily reminders that need to be given – isn’t this is a great way to take one of your list!

If I lived in Venice Beach I would be sure to stop into this cute store to stock up on light and airy bedding and linens.  Fortunately for us Midwesterners, they sell online.

Design Inspiration in Napa Valley: Part 1

May 29, 2014

Let’s just be clear … as I write this post, I am still in my 30’s.

However … last weekend, I may have been in Napa Valley to celebrate an upcoming birthday that begins with a 4.

As anyone who’s been to Wine Country knows, it is kind of like walking around in a fantasy world where the sun is always shining, the views are always stunning, the wine is always flowing … and there’s not too much else to do besides drink it!

However, in between tastes of wine, I was still able to do a little “work” so to speak. Between some of the wineries, our hotel, the restaurants … there was design inspiration everywhere!

So … I thought I’d bring it to you in a few different posts over the next week or two.

This first post has to be about the amazing home of Bob Long, owner of Montagna Winery, who graciously invited us to enjoy a picnic lunch with him on his estate. (Locals, Bob used to be a part owner of Yorktown Mall.)

Pretty much the best picnic ever …

But equally as thrilling was touring his stunning home.

Although it looks like a century old Villa you might find on an Italian mountainside, it is actually a relatively new home.

Sunny and bright with tons of charm and meticulous details.

I would kill for those beamed ceilings.

A cute little wood burning fireplace in the kitchen …. but not to worry … there’s a much larger one in the living room …

… that you can actually walk into …

Here’s a cozy seating area in the “Guest Wing.”

And here’s a peek into the Butler’s Pantry …

One of my favorite elements throughout the house were these black metal doors …

But of course, the views from them were even better …

And yes, the grounds were equally as awe-inspiring …

(yep, that’s an infinity pool off the terrace)

… gorgeous gardens … and I would love to have this ivy growing up the side of my house.

Sigh.

A big thank you to Bob for his wonderful hospitality … and to our dear friends Paul and Amy who joined us on this great adventure.

Stay tuned for more Napa Valley Design Inspiration!

(Just before she flies out to LA for the Emmys!) what a wonderful event at the Monogram Design Studio learning Jean’s tips and tricks for setting a beautiful holiday table. (It doesn’t have to be perfect or match … lean into nostalgia with vintage pieces and found treasures from travels and take advantage of faux greens … just to name a few!) Plus the talented chefs at Monogram served up the most delicious snacks using their amazing Five-in-One Wall Oven. I’m excited to set my table for Christmas Eve this year and I may just be using Jean’s idea of tying velvet ribbons to vintage coupe glasses. Oh and the dried orange garland! What are your favorite things to add to your Holiday table?

Do you know the story of how Crate & Barrel began? Do you know the story of how Crate & Barrel began? Newlyweds Gordon and Carol Segal discovered simple white European dinnerware on their honeymoon and decided their hometown friends needed it too. They opened the first Crate & Barrel in Chicago in 1962. So honored to be invited to their 60th Anniversary celebration last night. And let me just say, Crate & Barrel sure knows how to set a table … for 60! Every detail of this evening was beautifully styled in that special C&B way that has made them a favorite place to shop for so many for so long. It was wonderful to hear Gordon speak and the last picture is the lovely cozy view I had for dinner. Quintessential Crate & Barrel. @crateandbarrel #60thanniversarycelebration
