So were on Spring Break last week near Palm Beach, FL. A drive down Ocean Ave. left me itching to see what some of these Palm Beach mansions cost … so I’ve been snooping around on Realtor.com and found some beauties … for around $40 mil.

You can put your own personal touch on this one that is still under construction … for cool $74.5 mil.  Hey – a girl can dream, right?

Introducing our new website and a great Before & After

September 1, 2015

It’s been a long time coming, but Kristy and I are proud to finally unveil our new website! We invite you to click on over to our homepage and check out some new features, such as our Portfolio and Client Testimonials. A big thank you goes out to Kate Baird of Katelyn Brooke Designs for designing our new site, and to Donna Anello of My Ellabelle for the wonderful portfolio photography. We’d also like to thank all of our clients who let us invade their houses with our cameras and fresh flowers!

To kick things off, we’d like to share some before and after pictures from one of our favorite portfolio projects – Livable Luxe.

Our clients moved into a beautiful new house last summer. And while the space and bones of the house were amazing, most of the rooms needed some updating. We started with the powder room and the dining room.

Here is the dining room before:

And the after:

_DSC5644E (784x1024)

Our first priority was to lighten and brighten – removing the heavy draperies, covering the dark gold textured walls with a beautiful Phillip Jeffries wallpaper. We chose a paper from their cozy Intertwined collection called Cool Cashmere.

_DSC5679E (615x1024)

Instead of one large light fixture we suggested hanging two chandeliers over the long dining table we found at Arhaus. Made of a shimmery gold glass, the fixtures feel light and airy despite their size. Just the glamorous touch we were looking for. We also replaced the small ornate sconces flanking the window with tall dramatic Lucite fixtures.

_DSC5715E (668x1024)

The Host/Hostess chairs are restored antiques, recovered in a woven silk ikat fabric. The tufted side chairs in a grey French Linen were a great find on 1st Dibs. The Pansy Print Duo is from Natural Curiosities – gorgeous up close with hand-applied gold leaf.

The gray dining hutch is from Restoration Hardware and the perfect solution, we think, for this large wall and for displaying all of our client’s lovely china and serving pieces.

Floors throughout the entire home were restained in a darker custom-mixed stain. Our client is still debating whether to put a rug in here – the wallpaper is so textured and cozy that for now we are leaving the floor uncovered.

Next up  is the powder room. Here are the Before pictures …

And the Afters …

Down came the gold damask wallpaper and up went a shimmery silver wallpaper from Etten Galleries by Seabrook.  It gives the illusion of a soothing soft rainfall. The existing (too short) vanity was replaced by this gorgeous curved gray one by Plain & Posh Cabinetry. We topped it with a durable but elegant quartzite.

powderroom1

The tall mirror from Horchow and these Lucite sconces from Circa Lighting tie it all together.

_DSC5616E (621x1024)

We even found cabinet hardware to echo the Lucite in the sconces.

_DSC5623E (1024x767)

Finally, most powder rooms may only be suited for one little chandelier … this one called for two! These dramatic chandeliers are made of clear and smoked glass flower-shaped cylinders that also create a dripping or rainlike effect.

We are excited to keep working with this amazing client on the rest of their home – the kitchen is up next!  We’ll be sure to share!

Hope you enjoy perusing the rest of our new site – we are really excited to get to work this fall on many exciting new projects.  Let us know how we can help you!

Happy New Year!

January 13, 2015

… and uh, Merry Christmas too! Between the holidays and the kids-home-from-school-cold-days, it’s been awhile!

Hopefully you all had a little R&R during the holidays!  Now, let’s start the New Year off right! I’ve got lots of client appointments lined up for January already … it’s a great time to make a fresh start. And since we’re spending so much time inside these rooms of our homes this time of year, it’s only natural to start picking apart the things you don’t like and look for ways to make a change.

I thought I’d share a few things on my radar lately … maybe they will inspire you to make some little “change-ups” around your house!

I am loving these bath towels from Kassatex … darn, would have been a great Christmas present idea!

Speaking of Christmas presents, after 16 years, we finally decided to retire the everyday dishes we registered for at our wedding. My parents, in-laws and sister were kind enough to help me collect a new set for Christmas!  I did a lot looking before I finally settled on these:

It’s the Marin White Dinner Collection from Crate & Barrel. I really liked the kind of uneven gray edge that gives it a unique, organic feel. I also wanted a set that came with a large wide bowl (they call it a pasta bowl). We use this size a lot for soups, meal-size salads, chili … and, of course, pasta!

Now that your dining room table is cleared of Holiday centerpieces … what about designing a custom table runner at Loom Décor? You can select your fabric and border from a great selection of gorgeous prints and even some metallic solids.

I’m also loving the glass and Lucite hardware at this fun French site.

Maybe the males in my house are rubbing off on me, but I love this blue, locker-inspired cabinet from Ikea … and it is only $99!  I would use it as little media cabinet in a basement family room or for craft storage in a kid’s playroom.

Another great steal … this coffee table from West Elm. I love the mix of wood and metal. Kid-friendly with the rounded edges!

I also have many dog-eared pages from some of my favorite magazines …

This light fixture from Urban Electric caught my eye … it feels unexpected in this room, but I kind of like that.

Campion Chandelier

I’m also kind of digging this rug from Kravet.

Kravet Fine Facet Rug

Finally, are things feeling a little bare at your house now that all the greenery of the holidays is gone?  Terrain has some nice preserved and faux options to bring a little life and color to your house and help us all get through these winter months!

Adiantum Fern Bunch

Dogwood Branches

Faux Blooms Bunch
And last, but not least … while many people like add a fur throw or pillow this time of year, we decided to add something else a little furry …

His name is Pancake and is he 7 months old!  He was rescued from a rough neighborhood in the city, but seems to like his new home.

He also likes to follow our 15 year old cat, Luke, everywhere he goes.  Luke is a good sport, but sometimes he needs a little separation.

We are super excited to have this little guy pitter-pattering around the house … one of our best home additions yet!

Living Joyfully

February 28, 2014

That’s the motto behind Pirch, the new store opening next week at Oakbrook Center in the old Bloomingdale’s Home building.

And, after our “Sneak Peek” tour last night, I think Kristy and I would both agree that we could live joyfully with many of the things we feasted our eyes on.

Like this for example …

A Tiffany Blue La Cornue range … are you kidding me?

Pirch is definitely not your average kitchen and bath store.

Upon entering the store you will be offered a “hand-crafted beverage” from the Bliss Café.

This is to put you in just the right frame of mind to Dream, Play and Choose.  The showroom is loosely divided into these 3 concepts.

For example, these vignettes might get you dreaming …

We were swooning over this Zebrawood vanity …

Loved this countertop steamer … makes eating healthy a little easier in this kitchen!

Definitely still dreaming about this new Sub-Zero …

But this could be just plain dangerous …

And then there are the “Play” areas …

If you like the look of these shower heads, but want to see what they feel like …

no problem! You can bring your swimsuit, (or not) pull the curtain to this room and shower away!

Same goes for this tub where the water comes out of the ceiling.

Pirch also has it’s own chefs on staff, so if you’re thinking of the La Cornue range, but want to see how it cooks your family’s favorite recipe … just call ahead and they can have the ingredients on hand. (Their philosophy … you wouldn’t buy a Mercedes without giving it test drive, would you?)

Of course, after the dreaming, and the playing … if you are so lucky as to be ready to choose … well, get ready. The choices in each category are endless …

All of those faucets are working faucets by the way! (Not sure if I want to bring my kids here.)

There is also an area dedicated to outdoor kitchens … (still prepping for next week.)

All in all, a showroom like you have never seen before.  We are super excited for the Grand Opening Party next week!

Adventures at the Mart

April 11, 2012

Ok … this is me and the lovely Kristy Sweeney during our trip to the Merchandise Mart today.  Stay tuned for a more complete introduction to this fabulous lady, designer, Mom, singer and friend. She is the newest addition to Swoon Interiors, Inc. and I am anxious to show you pictures of the amazing transformation she has made to her own home and for her to share with you a little bit about herself. A whole post all about her is in the works …
In the meantime, I will share with you a few snapshots of some of the dazzling eye candy we were enticed by today at the Mart.
One of our first stops was the Duralee showroom.  We got caught up ooogling all of their lovely, colorful fabrics. They are really trying to take more traditional prints and bring them out in new, more modern colorways …

These would be charming in a young girl’s room.

I was excited to get a glimpse of John Robshaw’s new swoonworthy collection designed especially for Duralee.  It is so new, in fact, that they still only have the swatch books.

We may have stayed a little too long in this next showroom, but we couldn’t help ourselves … everything just sparkled with sophistication and glamour.  I seriously want to replace all of my light fixtures with ones from this showroom …

Gorgeous sconces and table lamps too.

I really liked these pieces with acrylic legs … a nice modern twist on more traditional pieces.

How beautiful is this silver leaf armoire?  It would light up a room.

This whole set up makes me want to have a pool in my backyard. (And unlimited time to lounge.)

More gorgeous textiles …

I’m always a sucker for a lovely tufted anything … but I especially like the shape of this sofa … and my Kyle would love that table.

We really liked this idea for a long wall that we saw in Holly Hunt …

… a nice way to add architectural interest.  I would love scouring the flea markets for antique gates like these.

And finally …

Bathtub Heaven.
